About Us
Discover the story behind Pokhara Chess Club and our mission to grow the game.
Our Story
Pokhara Chess Club was founded in 2015 by a group of passionate chess enthusiasts who wanted to create a space for the game to thrive in the Lakeside city. What started as casual meetups in a local café has grown into one of the most active chess communities in western Nepal.
Over the years, we've hosted dozens of tournaments, produced nationally-rated players, and built a warm, inclusive community that welcomes everyone from absolute beginners to seasoned masters.
Our Mission
To promote chess as a tool for intellectual development, community building, and personal growth. We believe chess teaches valuable life skills — patience, strategic thinking, resilience, and sportsmanship.
